FC Barcelona are reportedly big fans of Liverpool defender Andy Robertson. The Scotland captain has enjoyed a fine season for the Reds, with Jurgen Klopp’s men into the Champions League final and one game away from the Premier League title.
Robertson has provided 13 assists along the way and was excellent in the victory over Barcelona in week. And reports in Spain suggest Barça bosses are big admirers of Robertson, who was involved in spats with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez over the two legs of the semi-final.
Mundo Deportivo reports Robertson is the sort of player Barça would be targeting – despite him being contracted at Anfield until 2024.
The former Dundee United man cost a mere £8 million when arriving from Hull City in 2017. Given the two clubs struck a deal for Philippe Coutinho that exceeded £100 million, one would expect a similar price range being the starting point for Robertson.
Back for the UCL final
Robertson is certainly not going to be leaving Anfield any time soon… but these rumours underline just how far he has come.
The 25-year-old left the field with an injury during Liverpool’s astonishing 4-0 victory against Barcelona midweek, but he is expected to be fit for the Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur next month.
