Gonzalo Higuain has shown Chelsea just what they are missing out on after a savage training tackle on AC Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso. The Argentine forward, 31, suddenly looks set to stay at the San Siro after Milan refused to allow him to join the Blues on loan this month.
Instead, the Serie A giants are demanding a permanent £32million deal, with Maurizio Sarri set to pass. But Higuain has shown his former boss at Napoli the kind of grit he could have expected if they’d been willing to loosen the purse-strings.
Higuain has been included in Milan’s squad that has travelled to Saudi Arabia for the Supercoppa Italiana fixture against Juventus, the forward’s parent club, and he clashed with Gattuso in a training session ahead of Wednesday’s match.
There was nothing malicious in the clash, however, with Higuain hilariously taking Gattuso out with a challenge from behind. The famously volatile manager fortunately saw the funny side too as Higuain, who is looking to push through a move to Chelsea, slid in during a Rondo drill.
Gattuso, who is not in the athletic shape of his playing days, was unceremoniously brought down with a thud and the squad erupted in laughter. Never one to be outdone, the 73-cap former Italy international showed Higuain how it’s done with a crunching two-footed lunge on his Milan team-mate.
